Kink of the spices, peppercorn, the most consumed spice in the world, is taken from the berries of the plant Piper Nigrum.
Ceylon peppercorn is famous around the world as it is quite rich in piperine, which lends it a distinct pungency. As a result, Ceylon peppercorn from Sri Lanka leads and fetches a premium price in the international spice market.
Peppercorn adds a mild, but spicy kick to many dishes. it’s hard to find a savoury dish that doesn’t at least call for black peppercorn to taste.
